Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: wsw Wind Stength: 15 Surf / Sea State: choppy Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 15 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 23 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 17.5 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Went down to the dip for breakfast (at 11.30) met Andy Mexome on the
beach. The wind was still slighly off and Andy rigged 10m on his formula and
set off down the coast, the wind looked very up and down and after
yesterdays 4hr epic was not going to bother. Then Steve(maker) turns up and
persuades me to give it go with 8.5.Andy returns and changes to smaller
gear and 4 of us head out with 8m+ sails and after 100m I can't sheet in
it's blowing so hard and Andy has disappeared.I find him a 1/2 mile out
with a broken mast(a 100 % carbon race mast the first time out of the
bag-he's not happy) I go in search of some rescue but a couple of ribs
coming out of the river come to his aid.By this time the wind has eased a
little and I have a great time blasting, including a beat to the fludgers(it
would have been better to sail from here but the beach can get
crowded, parking is a problem weekends and the rocks are bad at low water)A
good afternoon, good to met up with peopls I have'nt seen for a while.
